Carl Fredrik Sammeli, the founder and partner of Prime, will begin a series of ‘real life strategy seminars’ on Tuesday the 15th of November for Business Strategy Master’s students at Uppsala University.
This new format of seminar is the brainchild of Leon Caesarius, assistant professor at the Department of Business Studies at Uppsala University, where he teaches strategy, knowledge management and marketing management. In 2010 he was awarded Uppsala University’s Pedagogic Prize for excellence in teaching.
Instead of an ordinary presentation, Carl Fredrik will, at each seminar, engage in a two-hour long dialog with Leon and the 180 students where he will discuss and debate his views on a particular strategic issue. Following each seminar the master students will be given a real-life problem to solve as well as compose a report that relates to some real life challenges that Prime faces today. Both Mr. Sammeli and Leon will assess these reports.
“My opinion is that we, as academics, need to understand that our job is to prepare the students for a career as future leaders and managers of organizations. Hence, I believe that academia and practice should collaborate much more. The collaboration between academia and practice is therefore absolutely imperative if we want students to be better prepared for their future roles. This is what Uppsala University and the Department of Business Studies stand for in this project, and that is what we are trying to accomplish with Uppsala’s largest master course that focuses on business strategy,” explains assistant professor Leon Caesarius.
“Instead of inviting practitioners to do a sporadic presentation we invited Prime and its founder Carl Fredrik Sammeli to participate and engage with our master students throughout the whole duration of the course. In Mr. Sammeli and Prime we have a partner that meets all the criteria I believe is important for such collaboration. It is a company that is characterized by being at the forefront of what they do, eager to develop new knowledge and eager to try harder. It is a company that is driven by Mr. Sammeli and his team, a person who is truly reflective, who is willing to engage and share his knowledge, qualities which clearly define a person who believes in transparency.“
The seminars will take place on the 15th of November, the 29th of November, the 6th of December and the 13th of December. The collaboration will culminate with a full-day student visit to Prime on the 14thof December.
